White Tie, Formal - This dress code is traditionally strict, means tail-coats for men, with  white shirt and vest, white bow-tie. For the ladies, it’s the time of full length evening gowns, elbow length gloves.
 

Black Tie, Semi-Formal –  It’s worn on many types of evening events. Typically means a black tuxedo and tie for men (known as black tie) and a dress for women, which can be diverse: from a conservative cocktail dress to the long evening gown, determined by current fashion, local custom, and the occasion's time.
 

Black Tie Optional, Black tie invites - It gives the choice between tuxedo or a black suit and tie. Women should wear either long evening dress or cocktail dress, again according to the occasion.
 

Creative Black Tie – This can be a trendy alternative to a formal dress code. Here men can wear tuxedo with black shirt, without tie and women can show a bit more of their shapes: shorter cocktail dress or two-piece outfit is also allowed.

After five – This the golden mean between formal and casual dress code. For men, suit with vest is accepted, women can wear cocktail dresses,  wearing an elegant suit with skirt is also a possible.
 

Informal – It’s still not Casual, Suit and tie for men, and suit for women too.

Business formal – For men it’s similar as semi formal, for women it means elegant but not décolleté outfit. 

Cocktail Attire – Short but elegant cocktail dress, suit for men.

Smart or Business Casual – This means that you don’t wear jeans and sneakers, but instead of suit, you can wear a jacket with tweed trousers, black is not required. Women can wear trousers with blouse and pull-over or a blazer.

Casual – This is everyday dress code, you don’t have any restrictions. (Only your own taste)
